Your host writes: Schmieder's Gasthaus is located in an old streetcar depot on the eastern city limits of Cologne, nearby Bergisch Gladbach. Our two master chefs, Jürgen and Sabine Schmieder, learned their craft in top international restaurants. It shows! We are especially proud of our large biergarten, with 240 seats surrounded by historic stretcars, and our large hall, where you can hold all kinds of parties, events, family occasions, or sales meetings for up to 600 people among historical vehicles of all kinds. • Excellent, friendly service. Ideal for events like weddings, baptisms, and company affairs. The prices are ok.

• The mix of traditional-romatic to relaxed and friendly invites you to simply enjoy a Kölsch or one of the fantastic potato pancakes too. Or order a la carte from the menu of modern German dishes with many seasonal specialties. I particularly enjoy the promotions during the Oktoberfest and the American specialties. No matter whether you're sitting at the big bar, in the cozy pub, or the lovely biergarten - everything's great!

• The opening of Schmieder's Gasthof, after the stylish renovation of the Thilenbruch train station, is a stroke of luck for the whole district and for everyone who is looking for a nice restaurant. Surrounded by the unique Art Niveau architecture of the station, the restaurant is tastefully furnished with creative lighting. In the summer you can enjoy the biergarten, which was previously unparalleled, and adds a touch of class to the whole area. It's also important for a restaurant to make its guests feel welcome. And you have this feeling from the very start, whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor. The creative cuisine is a real treat, and takes good advantage of every seasonal specialty the market has to offer. The culinary arts are surprising and unexpected for an inn, but don't expect small, overdone portions. The local beer is excellent. You always spend more time here than you plan, because you simply feel good and then regret (because you've spent too much time and/or money) having spoiled yourself in this luxurious atmosphere.
